PARTNER WITH US
Your support helps the education team ensure student participants get all they can out of this unique educational experience.
Yayasan Kalabia Indonesia (YaKIn), or the Kalabia Foundation, is dedicated to improving the long-term well-being of the Papuan people by empowering them with the knowledge to ensure the conservation of their marine and coastal resources for a sustainable future.
YaKIn was founded in 2012, when it was spun-off from Conservation International Indonesia's Marine Program to focus specifically on the Kalabia Education initiative.
Lead by executive director, Bram Goram, and supported by Canadian education advisor, Angela Beer, YaKIn continues to receive extensive support from Conservation International together with new supporter, Pelindo, the Indonesian Port Corporation.
The marine conservation education program is delivered to the 100++ remote villages of Raja Ampat by a dedicated team of locally-hired, charismatic conservation educators. The unique, interactive program has increased the ecological literacy and stewardship in communities of the Bird's Head Seascape.
