KALABIA

KALABIA Education Team

A passionate, dedicated, charismatic, local education team

Kalabia Educators are all "CHILDREN OF RAJA AMPAT".  This has been key to the success of the KALABIA program, as they can facilitate and communicate effectively because of their innate understanding of the culture and languages in the region.  The language of delivery isn't what's important - the understanding of the messages is!

The locally-recruited education team have undergone an intensive training and capacity-building program - they may not have been teachers or marine scientists prior to joining Kalabia, but their passion for the preservation of the resources they consider their people's heritage translates easily to their students - whether elementary school kids, high school students, or other teachers!

                        'Benefits-added' : Kalabia educators are

                  inspirational role-models for local students!

TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS AND CREW AT Kalabia ARE UNITED IN THEIR BELIEF THAT ALL CHILDREN:

  • Have the power to learn

  • Are curious & creative

  • Can succeed

  • Will play essential roles in their communities and as such require a basic ecological literacy such as that provided by the Kalabia program

No two students have exactly the same skills or learning style. That’s why the Kalabia program incorporates a varied and inclusive set of lessons and activities, all cohesively integrated with the Papuan coastal culture!

Holistic program

INTEGRATing education & FUN!

The Kalabia program was designed to incorporate hands-on interactive education activities with inspiring lessons, pride campaigns, and a fun, camp-like atmosphere in an intensive multi-day course for elementary school children in Raja Ampat.
